Central and Local Government
Gen-i is committed to working in partnership with the public sector, and to that end we are involved with the government sector in many ways.
Government’s commitment to sustainability extends to its agencies - all core departments must be on the path to carbon neutrality by 2012. We are helping Government to become more sustainable with technology that reduces travel and energy consumption.
Our connectivity services enable agencies to integrate their service delivery across programmes involving multiple agencies, supporting collaboration. Such integration frees up agencies to focus on social, environmental, economic and cultural outcomes for New Zealanders. We provide a foundation for secure access of public services, using different physical and electronic channels – combining internet, video and voice interaction. Our mobility solutions enable state servants to work anywhere, in turn supporting Government’s goal to be the “employer of choice”.
Compliance with the Public Records Act is a key driver for the entire public sector, and in 2010 Archives New Zealand will begin auditing for compliance with that Act. We are committed to working closely with our government customers to understand and enable their evolving policy and compliance requirements. As part of this, we provide a product set that complies with ERKSS and allows agencies to meet their PRA’s requirements.
Finally, Tahi is Gen-i’s all-of-Government approach to a connected, secure, and enabled Government. Tahi recognises the collective scale and unique business drivers of Government in one simple ICT conversation. We are building new products and services specifically for Government, as well as rebundling existing products and services with a compelling commercial construct. The first offerings are voice, data and mobile, - these will soon be expanded to include; procurement, a security bundle, audio & video conferencing, and a document & records management solution. Future Tahi developments are guided by the Tahi Customer Council, a customer forum for information sharing and collaboration.
