Rural
The rural sector powers the New Zealand economy, producing 65 per cent of export sales and providing 25 per cent of the country’s GDP, mainly through food based exports including meat, milk, horticulture and fisheries.
The rural sector acts as an economic ecosystem in its own right, with strong interdependencies between many of the companies.
Gen-i has strong relationships with all the major rural companies. They look to Gen-i for ICT leadership that enables their businesses to compete effectively globally. The solutions Gen-i provides allow greater industry functionality and actively support the sector’s ability to improve information sharing and sector collaboration to everyone’s benefit. In addition, Gen-i’s national reach, with 14 offices in all regional centres, ensures a strong local presence and support structure for the rural sector.
Together with other leading rural providers, Gen-i is playing a key role in developing traceability solutions for the sector. Traceability is the ability to track ingredients through the food chain, from farm to fork. There is increasing awareness about the importance of traceability systems, which can improve the productivity and profitability of farming, processing, storage and distribution systems across the food supply chain.
Gen-i has joined forces with key industry organisations and technology partners in the rural sector to create a capability that will help farmers reap the benefits of the technology quickly and at low risk.
